The Systematic Medical Appraisal, Referral and Treatment initiative (SMARThealth) is designed to deliver low-cost, evidence based, primary healthcare in remote communities and low-resource settings. It supports local health workers with the technology and training to empower them to provide preventative healthcare in places where it is not readily available and relieve the burden on oversubscribed medical infrastructure. SMARThealth provides simple electronic health record, wireless point-of-care diagnostics and series of evidence-based algorithms for patient management. It supports primary health care for cardiovascular disease, diabetes and mental health, and is in use in China, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar and Fiji.
