Bringing Patient Safety to Qatar

WISH partnered with a US-based patient safety academy in March to train a group of over 100 faculty and staff from various Qatari medical institutions in patient safety. The training course focused on the importance of communicating with patients to reduce medical errors and used interactive games and exercises to give participants specific tools to allow them to enhance patient safety. Participants exchanged their own experiences on patient safety, pinpointing challenges and opportunities for improvement. The seminar was the first global academy for emerging leaders in patient safety, which aims to avert medical errors and as a result, reduce preventable fatalities.
